Description
The Boost Cake integrates a Germanium Chorister treble booster and a Welsh Cake overdrive into a single unit. By default, the Chorister feeds the Welsh Cake; however, dual input and output sets on the rear panel enable flexible circuit configuration and independent operation.

THE CHORISTER A vintage treble booster that emphasises mid and upper frequencies for enhanced presence and clarity in a mix. The Level control adjusts boost intensity, delivering subtle overdrive characteristics at lower settings and progressive breakup at higher levels. This circuit is optimally deployed in front of already-driven amplifier stages, particularly those with fuller tonal characteristics. Germanium transistor construction provides the dynamic, expressive response and vintage frequency characteristics that distinguish this design from silicon-based alternatives. Notable artists including Rory Gallagher, Brian May, Tony Iommi, Marc Bolan and Billy Gibbons shaped their signature sounds using treble boosters.
- Germanium transistor
- Standard 9V centre-negative power supply
- Level control
- Filter switch – adjusts low-frequency content reduction
- Maximum low-end reduction
- Moderate low-end reduction
- Minimal low-end reduction
THE WELSH CAKE A characterful overdrive with extensive tonal control. The Mids control operates inversely: anti-clockwise increases midrange content, clockwise reduces it. For optimal results, begin at either extreme and adjust incrementally toward centre to match your amplifier and playing style.
- Standard 9V centre-negative power supply
- Level control
- Gain control
- Mids control
Please note: Out-of-stock orders may require 3–4 weeks for delivery due to our hand-built, small-batch production process.
We package everything in recycled materials because great tone shouldn't cost the planet.
